Kick-off blog for Mahin
AACE Certification training for 5 days, 2 days trip to Bali, 579 outlook email from 5 different ongoing projects, 150+ yahoo mail from the highly spirited people from AACE session.....yes...this has been the past 2 weeks for me and still struggling and fighting through it. But the experience is undoubtedly remarkable.
From the very first day of the training session I had a feeling that this might be the chance for me to prove myself –individually as well as professionally. As the session went on, my believe grew stronger and stronger having a group of enthusiastic people -all determined to succeed in every aspect. I was amazed to see the team chemistry and bonding though there were people from different part of the world, different organization and different sector of profession. That is where I must say- “Impossible is a word that has no meaning in-front of determination”.
In the training session, I came to know about a lot of stuff that we never ever thought of. There are lot of tools and techniques to run a project, but to run it efficiently; the project manager needs to select the proper tools and techniques. This is one of the most important lessons learnt from this session. Till September 25, 2009- I was a PM of the first category. Dealing with a lot of tools to run the project and eventually ending up doing redundant works. But things have changed for me after I went through the session and now I now the proper way of running a project EFFICIENTLY.
EVM (Earned Value Management) is one another project Management concept that I am delighted to learn in this session. This is one of the most effective tools that I have been ignoring from the very beginning of my PM career. Use of this single concept can change the whole project progress. Reporting, monitoring and progress tracking can be made a lot easier with the use of EVM. I am so thrilled and excited to learn EVM, eventually I am thinking of writing my paper on this topic.
There is no end of learning and we are learning in every steps of our life. But what matters is – how well we are implementing our knowledge gained. That is where the actual effectiveness of the knowledge is reflected. We have learnt a lot in our session and now its time to implement it to the organization to make a positive change. I took my
To conclude my first blog, I would like to thank all my team members / classmates to show a very positive approach and make everyone believe that “We can”. Along with that, I would like to add this line for Dr. Paul- Sir, with due respect, I think this time you need to consider some budget for the Tony Romas…!!!!!

Mahin
Believe me, NOTHING would please Yani and I and the rest of our team than to treat all of you at Tony Roma's....
Nice posting, but what I would have really liked to have you elaborate on was WHAT tools and techniques you applied to your Bali trip and how well did they work?
The primary purpose of this blog is to provide you the opportunity to explain what you learned, but more importantly, to show me and the rest of your team how you are taking the theory from the books and making it "real" for application in your personal and business life.
Keep up the good work and the great enthusiasm and will be looking for you to join at Tony Roma's....

Dr. PDG, Jakarta
